Heavily armed and dressed in tactical armor with a silicone mask hiding his face and a police-style badge, Vance Boelter made a convincing police officer – so much so that a real police officer mistook him for a fellow cop.

Minnesota authorities arrested Vance Boelter, the suspect in the assassination of Democratic state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband and the failed assassination attempt of Democratic state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, on Sunday afternoon after a daylong manhunt.

The man charged with killing one Minnesota lawmaker and wounding another planned the shootings, a federal prosecutor said.

These are the items investigators say were found inside Vance Boelter's vehicle, suggesting the carnage could have been even worse.

She remembers friendlier encounters with Boelter and his wife before Sunday night arrest for killing of former House Speaker Melissa Hortman.

A spokesperson for Sen. Tammy Baldwin confirmed that the senator was included on the "list of names" authorities say belonged to the man accused of fatally shooting a Minnesota state representative and her husband and wounding a state senator and his wife.
