Severe thunderstorms will head east by Saturday, impacting eastern Michigan and parts of northern Indiana. One to two inches of rain is possible as the system tracks east, but some areas could see isolated amounts of three to five inches through the weekend.

After more than a foot of rain caused historic flash flooding across South Central Texas on the morning of July 4, conditions are expected to deteriorate once again heading into the weekend. Guidance increasingly supports the return of showers and thunderstorms across much of west-central Texas,

The neighbouring state of Texas also experienced a major flood just a few days earlier, but with a very different outcome. The ferocity of the inundation in Texas caught forecasters and state officials by surprise, killing at least 120 people.
