Meadville Police Chief Michael Stefanucci, in a news release issued Wednesday afternoon, announced that seven people were facing charges in connection with the fight.

Meadville City Police filed charges against seven people who were allegedly involved in a fight that broke out during the final minutes of a PIAA boys basketball playoff game last Friday night at Meadville High School.

Meadville and Uniontown’s PIAA state playoff contest ended with violence in the stands on Friday night, leading to an early end to the game.

The Meadville boys basketball team was declared the victor in Friday’s game against Uniontown, but after a melee ended the game early, the future for the Bulldogs' season is uncertain.

Four adults and three teenagers are facing charges for their accused actions in a fight that broke out during a high school basketball playoff game on Friday. The fight in the Meadville Area Senior High gymnasium broke out during a game between Meadville and Uniontown with about three minutes left in the fourth quarter after a technical foul was called on a Uniontown player.

"Due to an unfortunate incident that occurred during last night's boys' basketball game, the game was brought to an early conclusion. While we regret this unexpected ending, the safety and well-being of players, fans, and staff remain our top priority," said a spokesperson for Meadville Area Senior High School.
