Blackwell etched his name into Stars lore during Monday night’s (or Tuesday morning, depending on how you look at it) Game 2 showdown with the Avalanche. After nearly 18 minutes of back-and-forth, breathtakingly stressful overtime hockey, Blackwell found the back of the net to beat Colorado just after the clock had struck midnight.

In Game 2 of the Western Conference First Round on Monday, it was Blackwell, a 32-year-old journeyman forward who scored at 17:46 of overtime to give the Dallas Stars a 4-3 win against the Colorado Avalanche, tying the best-of-7 series.

Colin Blackwell was hoping for another crack at the playoffs when he ended his free agency last summer by signing with the Dallas Stars.
