Emergency officials have issued new evacuation orders as wildfires continue to spread in Oklahoma County. According to Oklahoma County EMS, residents in the area between Hiwassee Road and Choctaw Road, from Coffee Creek to Waterloo Road, should evacuate immediately due to the approaching fire threat.

An evacuation order has been issued for eastern Oklahoma County as fires rage throughout the state. The evacuation area is from Hiawassee to Choctaw roads and Coffee Creek to Waterloo. Several fires have sparked statewide and throughout the Oklahoma City metro.

The town of Leedey, Oklahoma was evacuated Friday afternoon due to a fast-moving wildfire. A wildfire outbreak appears likely today across the southern Plains as extreme to historic fire weather conditions spread from the Texas Panhandle and Rolling Hills Country into much of Oklahoma and southeast Kansas.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service have called Friday their “day of biggest concern” this week for dangerous fire weather conditions across a broad slice of the southern Great Plains and a portion of the Southwest and even into the Midwest.
