No program in women’s basketball has seen more legends of the game come through it than UConn women’s basketball. The WNBA is littered with UConn greats who have helped build the Huskies into one of the most iconic brands in sports.

Coach Dawn Staley and the South Carolina women’s basketball team are playing UConn in the 2025 national title game on Sunday afternoon in Tampa. With a win, USC would secure back-to-back national titles, its third championship in the past four years and its fourth overall as a program (2017, 2022, 2024).

UConn is looking for its 12th national title in program history. The Huskies have not won a championship since 2016 but have made the Final Four every year since. UConn has made the championship game just once since 2016. The Gamecocks have lost just three games this year, the worst of those losses came to UConn by 29 points in February.
