Pittsburgh City Council will host a public hearing to give residents a chance to share their opinions on acting police Chief Christopher Ragland before they vote on whether to confirm him as permanent chief.

Pittsburgh City Council has delayed a vote on the city’s next police chief. Councilman Anthony Coghill on Tuesday called for a public hearing and the council agreed. Coghill said it will give the public the opportunity to tell elected leaders what they want to see in the new chief.

Pittsburgh City Council decided on Tuesday to interview Acting Police Chief Christopher Ragland instead of voting on his appointment as full-time chief.
