Production for the XJR-15 lasted until 1992, and it's reported that Jaguar built only 53 examples. Of those, 27 were road-specified, while the rest were destined for the track.
This would end up being the XJR-15, which featured a chassis based on the one found in the XJR-9, a new futuristic design and was the first street-legal car made primarily of carbon fiber.
If you don’t remember the Jaguar XJR-15, don’t worry. Most people don’t. The car’s limited run of about 53 cars has made its availability scarce, with most examples still residing in the U.K.
With the XJR-15 tipping the scales at 1,050kg (2,315lbs), 0-60mph came in 3.9 seconds while top speed was limited due to gearing to 191mph (307km/h).
When new, the XJR-15 carried a monumental $960,000 price tag, around $100,000 more than the later McLaren F1 and equivalent to roughly $1.7 million when adjusted for 25 years of inflation.
The XJR-15 was also powered by a naturally aspirated V12 engine that made 450 hp (335 kW/456 PS) and 420 lb-ft (569 Nm) of torque.

Really though, Jaguar needn’t have worried about the XJR‑15 being a competitor. For a start, it was built in tiny numbers – there were over five times the number of XJ220s produced.
