Once considered one of the safest and fastest ships on the Great Lakes, the steel steamer tragically sank in a fierce 1892 storm, taking 27 lives-including the ship's owner, Captain Peter G.

Rough weather conditions on 30 August 1892 caused the cargo ship to break in two and sink to the bottom of Lake Superior.
