The No. 1-seeded Auburn Tigers begin what they hope will be a deep March Madness run on Thursday with a first round matchup against the No. 16 Alabama State Hornets.

This week both the Alabama State men and Southern women won their first NCAA Tournament games in each school’s history. Knox is a redshirt sophomore from Memphis, Tennessee who arrived at Alabama State in 2022.

Their 68-56 triumph over UC San Diego not only secured their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory but also marked the first win for any SWAC women’s basketball team in tournament history.

The No. 10 Louisville Cardinals and Creighton Bluejays square off in the NCAA Tournament opening round. The teams play Thursday for the first time this season.
