On Wednesday, Meta’s Oversight Board called on the company to evaluate how recent policy change’s may negatively impact human rights. The Board’s request comes alongside its publication of its first 11 case decisions following Meta’s sweeping policy changes at the start of the year.

The board urged Meta to assess “potential adverse effects” of the changes, put in place just before President Donald Trump began his second term.

Meta updated its hateful conduct policy in January, which alarmed some LGBTQ activists, as the updated policy specified users can refer to LGBTQ people as mentally ill, among other controversial changes.
