Paul Shuey was a very good set-up man for Cleveland from 1996-2002. But in save situations, he was 23 for 42 (54%). A good closer converts at least 85%. Shuey had a strong arm. He was a solid reliever. The closer role was not for him – or most relievers.

The struggles continued for Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase on Sunday, as he blew his second save of the season in what ended up being a 5-4 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Clase allowed three runs on four hits in the ninth inning and now owns an ugly 7.
