The Padres were busy on Friday addressing their lack of depth in left field. San Diego and outfielder/first baseman Connor Joe agreed on a one-year contract. Later, The Athletic reported that the club has reached a deal with veteran outfielder Jason Heyward.

Connor Joe, a former West Coast Conference Player of the Year at the University of San Diego, has signed a one-year deal with the Padres.

SAN DIEGO — Connor Joe is going home, signing a one-year contract with the San Diego Padres. Joe hit .228 with nine homers and 36 RBIs in 123 games for Pittsburgh last year. The San Diego native played his college ball for the University of San Diego. The 32-year-old Joe has made big league starts at first base, right field and left.
