I've have not personally tried the VIP tours, but VIP lets you go to rides with almost no lines, and other exclusive stuff.. I mean, if you really like roller coasters and other rides, then it's worth it. But if you aren't, I would not really recommend it. And even without the VIP, there is SO much to explore! Even a whole day from sunrise to sundown isn't enough! Very cool place, and whatever you choose, I can guarantee you'll enjoy it!
