You probably can take small children on the bus and train but the site is not too large so you could walk all the way round. The woodland walk and the picnic area would be good but I am not sure that there is much to interest a two year old. When we went the weather was beautiful and there were many families around but I am not sure that it would be much fun on a wet day. Call the museum to find out what is open on a particular day, they will also be able to answer all your questions.
