Is it cheaper to prebuy your ticket or wait until you get there and buy it there? We, a family of 4, plan on going from Greymouth to Christchurch on August 1.

It’s always better to pre buy tickets as there are a couple of seating classes, you aslso don’t have to wait in line and avoid the disappointment of missing the train.
Thoughts on going on this trip alone? Do you have time to get off the train for a few minutes in each stop? :)
