Planning a loop road trip Denver - Albuquerque - S Utah - Denver with my wife from about 7 - 30 Sept 2015, primarily to cover the Pueblos & Canyon lands. But I am interested in other things ie old aircraft. Having earmarked the National Museum of World War II Aviation at Colorado springs, I now come across this aircraft museum - just down the road! Now getting my wife to see one aircraft museum is hard work - but 2 - so close together!! Which is better? is it worth seeing both? How could I convince my wife both are worth visiting? Help, please! Thanks Richard

I'm answering this 4 years later but realized others may find answers to this question useful. I'm actually a volunteer at the Pueblo Museum and have been to the National Museum of WWII Aviation (NMWIIA) in Colorado Springs 3 times. It is true that Pueblo has more aircraft (over 45) and has over 25 military vehicles. Pueblo Air Museum has existed much longer and has a lot more memorabilia. But I think you can't really compare the 2 museums as there are almost no duplication of the displays. NMWIIA specializes in WWII era aircraft and vehicles and most of their aircraft are flyable. They have just built a new museum building and their tour includes a visit to the Westpac Restorations building which specializes in rebuilding flying WWII aircraft. I highly recommend you try to see both. Each has a different approach to the way exhibits are presented. Each museum could be considered extensions of the educational experience one will get if you can go to both. Also if you can do it, visit the Peterson Air Base museum and the USAF Academy. Fort Carson has a decent museum recently opened and a good number of Tanks, Armored vehicles and helicopters on display. Many more are on display inside the post if you can do that.
