Beautiful scenic road along a valley of a high canyon of red rocks and basalt cliffs. We were delighted to see the lush foliage that ran along the Jemez river, so different from the normal New Mexic…kirstine2013的完整评论

After leaving Valles Caldrea Nat. preserve we continued on toward Jemez. The mountains are beautiful and so many shapes & colors. We did the entire stretch before turning around.Christina B的完整评论

Drove through from Santa Fe to Bandelier to Albuquerque. The drive was pretty and peaceful. Enjoyed it much more than the freeway :)R J的完整评论

Depends on what type of winter we're having. If it's mild then yes. Los Alamos & Jemez Springs are the 2 main cities along the byway, so you're best bet is to check what their weather is predicted to be like. Obviously the closer to when you'd want to drive it the better. It's a higher altitude than the major cities like Santa Fe and Albuquerque, so don't go by any predictions for these. I'd also recommend a quick Google search for 'jemez byway closures.' If nothing shows there's no stretch closed and is considered safe.

I drove it from Los Alamos to Albuquerque. You can then drive on to Santa Fe,another 40- 45 minutes. The Jemez Trail does not cover the entire route to Santa Fe. It is well worth the extra drive time. I will definitely do it again next trip. Many things I did not have time to explore. I have also driven the Turquoise Trail which I enjoyed. They are very different. On my last trip I drove up one way and back to Albuquerque the other.
