Housed in the former Natatorium (indoor swimming facility) are 33,000 sq feet of exhibits telling the colorful story of early history of Baker County, from the discovery of gold in 1861 in the nearby mountains along the Oregon Trail, to the businesses that helped make the "Queen City of the Mines" the third largest city in Oregon. The museum's Cavin Warfel Rock & Mineral Collection is one of the finest in the country.
