Hi, you ask is it 'safe'. We live in Vancouver, BC, Canada. And it's a great city, but things 'happen'. I hope you appreciate I'm being picky. Things happen in Vancouver, Seattle, Fort. Lauderdale, and even maybe Salt Lake City. We did the Panama Cruise, our first cruise. In Columbia we did our own tour, and it was great. However what we learned on our cruise, was next time we'd most likely research what we want to see, then do our own 'thing' in each port. We did a number of cruise company trips, and did not like the 'huge groups/controlled' aspect of the tours. Since your husband speaks Spanish it's a plus. When looking for someone at the Port go with someone who looks professional, has a decent/good car, maybe get another couple to go with you, that kind of stuff. (I'm thinking off the top of my head here) Hope that helps......
